A New Chapter for Miami City Ballet
When then-Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez announced her departure with two years left in her contract, it was a shock to many. But Garcia sees it as an opportunity for the institution to reassess its direction and bring in fresh energy.

Garcia’s Journey
- Retired from performance at the age of 30 to pursue a career in dance administration
- Served as the Executive Director of the Miami City Ballet School
- Was appointed Artistic Director of the Miami City Ballet, becoming the first Hispanic leader in the organization’s history
