Boca Raton in the Running for Providencia Award for Centennial Programming
The City of Boca Raton is a finalist for Discover the Palm Beaches’ Providencia Award, which recognizes municipalities and organizations that have made a major impact on the county’s tourism. In honor of its centennial in 2025, Boca Raton hosted yearlong programming and partnered with area hotels, nonprofits, and cultural institutions to celebrate. Read more at BocaVibe.com.
The city’s centennial programming included exhibits, collaborations with local breweries, new signage, concerts, and even a logo redesign. Some of the notable events and initiatives included:
- Collaboration with Prosperity Brewers to launch a centennial ale
- A new sign at Sanborn Square
- A concert headlined by Weezer
- A logo redesign
According to a centennial impact study conducted by the city, 76.5 percent of Boca Raton’s residents were aware of the programming, while 2 million Florida residents outside of Boca Raton were also aware of the events and initiatives.
The study found that:
- 44,000 residents participated in the centennial programming
- 1,500 local businesses partnered with the city for the celebrations
- $1.5 million was generated in economic impact from the events and initiatives
The Providencia Award is presented annually by Discover the Palm Beaches to recognize municipalities and organizations that have made a significant contribution to the county’s tourism industry. The award is named after the Spanish word for “prosperity” and is intended to honor those who have helped to promote the region’s unique culture, history, and natural beauty.
