Boca Raton in the Running for Providencia Award for Centennial Programming
The City of Boca Raton is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as a finalist for Discover the Palm Beaches’ Providencia Award, a prestigious recognition that honors municipalities and organizations that have made a significant impact on the county’s tourism industry. In celebration of its centennial in 2025, Boca Raton hosted an extensive year-long programming series that brought together area hotels, nonprofits, and cultural institutions to showcase the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. Some of the highlights of this programming included:
- Exhibits showcasing the city’s history and landmarks
- A collaboration with Prosperity Brewers to launch a centennial-themed beer
- A new sign at Sanborn Square, a historic landmark in the heart of downtown Boca Raton
- A concert headlined by the iconic rock band Weezer
- The creation of a custom logo to commemorate the city’s centennial anniversary
According to a comprehensive impact study conducted by the city, the programming had a significant reach and awareness among both local residents and visitors from outside Boca Raton. The study found that:
- 76.5 percent of Boca Raton’s residents were aware of the programming
- 2 million Florida residents outside of Boca Raton were also aware of the programming
- 44,000 residents attended at least one event as part of the programming series
The Providencia Award is a highly coveted recognition that acknowledges the city’s efforts to promote tourism and celebrate its rich history. The award will be presented at an upcoming ceremony, where the winner will be announced.
