The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for the area, warning of strong rip currents that can quickly pull swimmers out to sea. The advisory is in effect from 6am to 6pm EDT on Thursday, with waves expected to reach 4-6 feet and wave periods of 8-12 seconds.
