Area Students Honored With Holocaust Education Awards

Florida Atlantic University has recognized high school and middle school students from across Florida as winners of the Craig and Barbara Weiner Holocaust Reflection Contest, an initiative sponsored by FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. Read more at BocaVibe.com.

The contest, which aims to educate young people about the importance of understanding and remembering the Holocaust, received over 500 submissions from students in grades 6-12 across the state.

Winners were selected based on the quality and depth of their reflections, as well as their ability to convey a clear message about the significance of the Holocaust. The contest is designed to encourage young people to think critically about the impact of historical events on contemporary society.

  • Emily Chen, a 7th-grader from Boca Raton High School
  • David Lee, an 11th-grader from Palm Beach Gardens High School
  • Samantha Goldberg, a 9th-grader from Boca Raton High School
  • Michael Kim, a 10th-grader from Parkland High School
  • Alexandra Rodriguez, an 8th-grader from Boca Raton High School

The winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship and be recognized at a special ceremony on the FAU campus. The event is expected to take place in March.
