Cultural Council Opens Sports-Themed Art Exhibit Ahead of World Cup
In just two months’ time, all eyes of the international sporting world will be fixed on Miami for FIFA World Cup 2026. In recognition of South Florida’s central role in the world’s most popular sport, the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County is unveiling “Kinetic Energy: A Celebration of Sport in Palm Beach County,” an exhibition that explores sports through the palettes, cameras, chisels, and imaginations of local artists. “Kinetic Energy,” which hosts its opening reception this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and runs through June 12, is presented in partnership with the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, and covers a wide variety of athletic endeavors and individual art styles. The exhibition will feature works by 14 artists selected from across the county, including one from Boca Raton, Anna Villa, who contributed realistic portraits that capture the essence of her subjects.
Some of the other notable artists featured in the exhibition include:
- Palm Beach artist, Michael Puglisi, known for his vibrant and dynamic paintings of athletes in action
- Boca Raton’s own Anna Villa, whose realistic portraits showcase the beauty and strength of her subjects
- West Palm Beach-based photographer, Maria Rodriguez, who captures the drama and intensity of sports through her lens
- Delray Beach artist, Juan Sanchez, whose sculptures explore the intersection of sport and culture
The exhibition is a celebration of the many ways in which sports bring people together and inspire creativity. “Kinetic Energy” will be on display at the Cultural Council’s main gallery, located at 301 Clematis Street in West Palm Beach.
