Angel Benitez, 29, of West Palm Beach, was taken into custody just after midnight on April 12. According to authorities, Benitez had been driving erratically in the area of 44th Street and Federal Highway when he was pulled over by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
False Identity Claim
When deputies approached Benitez’s vehicle, he allegedly told them that he was a firefighter with the Boca Raton Fire Department. He claimed to be on his way to respond to an emergency call.

- Benitez reportedly provided false identification and attempted to intimidate the deputies by claiming to have access to a fire truck and firefighters.
- The deputies, however, were not fooled by Benitez’s claims and continued to detain him for further investigation.
Benitez was subsequently arrested on charges of resisting arrest, obstructing an officer, and providing false information to law enforcement. He was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Palm Beach County Jail.
Consequences of False Identity Claim
The consequences of Benitez’s actions are clear: he attempted to use his supposed status as a firefighter to avoid arrest and prosecution for DUI-related charges. This tactic not only failed but also put himself and others at risk.
- Benitez faces serious charges, including resisting arrest and obstructing an officer, which carry significant penalties if convicted.
- The incident serves as a reminder to always be honest with law enforcement and to respect the authority of those who serve and protect our communities.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about this incident to contact them at (561) 433-7000. Benitez is expected to appear in court later this month to face the charges against him.
