Boca Raton in the Running for Providencia Award for Centennial Programming
The City of Boca Raton is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as a finalist for Discover the Palm Beaches’ Providencia Award, which recognizes municipalities and organizations that have made a major impact on the county’s tourism. In honor of its centennial in 2025, Boca Raton hosted an exciting year-long programming series that showcased the city’s rich heritage and vibrant cultural scene. The event was a huge success, with partnerships with area hotels, nonprofits, and cultural institutions coming together to celebrate this milestone. Some of the highlights of the centennial programming included:
- Exhibits at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, featuring works by local artists
- A collaboration with Prosperity Brewers to launch a centenni-ale, a special beer brewed exclusively for the occasion
- A new sign at Sanborn Square, designed by local students and showcasing the city’s history and landmarks
- A concert headlined by Weezer, performing at the Mizner Park Amphitheater
- Even a logo design contest, where residents were invited to submit their own designs for the city’s centennial celebration
According to a centennial impact study conducted by the city, the programming had a significant impact on the community:
- 76.5 percent of Boca Raton’s residents were aware of the programming
- 2 million Florida residents outside of Boca Raton were also aware of the programming
- 44,000 residents participated in at least one centennial event
